VatView is a free mobile app for tracking live VATSIM network activity. This policy explains what data is collected and how it is used.
What Data We Collect
VatView does not require an account and does not collect any personally identifiable information directly.
Crash Reports
VatView uses Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports when the app encounters an error. This may include:
- Device model and operating system version
- App version
- Stack trace of the crash
This data is used solely to identify and fix bugs.
Analytics
VatView uses Google Analytics for Firebase to collect anonymous usage data, including:
- Which screens are viewed
- Which features are used (e.g. map filters, detail panels)
No personally identifiable information is included in analytics events.
Map Data
VatView uses Google Maps to render the map. Google’s standard privacy policy applies to map tile requests. No user location data is collected or transmitted by VatView.
VATSIM Data
Live VATSIM network data (pilot callsigns, positions, ATC controllers) is fetched from the public VATSIM data feed. This data is public and not collected or stored by VatView.
Data Storage
All app preferences and cached data (map region, filter settings, airport database) are stored locally on your device. Nothing is transmitted to VatView servers.

Children’s Privacy
VatView does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13.
